Carl Warner (b.1965) has a Master of Visual Arts and in 2021 was awarded a PhD from Queensland College of Art. Warner uses photography to hone in on the details he notices in everyday urban, industrial and natural environments. Finding spaces between things, Warner brings new things into view or creates a fresh way of viewing what is known. In Tessellated Trees the foreground tree trunks are cut into tiles, emphasising, through repeated placement, their thin trunks, their height and texture, as well as interestingly their vulnerability. The cuts of the tessellation can’t be ignored. Warner’s digital intervention into this image creates a new compelling space to be viewed.
Warner exhibits in Brisbane, Melbourne, Cairns and Sydney.
